History of Kunafa
Kunafa (or kanafeh) has its roots in the Levant, especially in the Palestinian city of Nablus, where bakers perfected the art of pairing crisp shredded pastry with soft, melty cheese. Medieval Arab cookbooks already described kunafa-like sweets, and over time the dessert spread through the Ottoman world, appearing at Ramadan evenings, Eid celebrations, and weddings across the region. Today, kunafa is served everywhere from Nablus bakeries to Dubai dessert bars – always warm, soaked in scented syrup, and scattered with pistachios. Our Kunafa Cake in a Glass is a modern take on that story, bringing those classic layers into a refined glass for intimate celebrations in KTM.
